Hmm, you think so? I kinda like the new designs for the characters. The old ones were starting to gain some age and they have that general 90's feel to them while the new designs try to modernise them a bit. I for one especially like Jago's new design. It's not so bright as his old one, heh Not that I ever disliked the old designs, I just prefer many of the new ones.
Thanks! And no, we don't have the Xbone yet. There are some import consoles from UK on the market, but I'm waiting for the official Finnish release in September because getting a British console and XBL account could create some inconveniences later.
Oh I never said I disliked Jago's new look, it's just such a departure from his previous design I was just really surprised when I saw it xD I looked up a few of the new designs and I really like Fulgore's, Thunder's and Combo's, just not so much Orchid's think it's the goggles
Hmmm I see, yeah probably best to wait I said it before when we were talking about it, but I really don't get why Microsoft delayed release in mainland Europe for so long, isn't X Box huge over there?
Oh yeah, that's true, it's quite a departure . But he looks really cool. Glacius also became thinner, but I feel that's just a good thing. Makes him look more alien-like and it adds more diveristy to the body types in the game. And yes, Fulgore, Thunder and Combo look really kick-ass. I guess they were going for a rebel soldier -look for Orchid this time, I'm kinda neutral to her new look.
Yeah, Xbox is doing pretty well in Europe. I guess the reason why they delayed the launch here so much could be related to the Kinect. Maybe they're developing more voice-recognizing options for different languages? I don't really care, I never planned to plug the Kinect into it.
Yep he does look really cool, looks like he's got a bit of a chip on his shoulder Yep the new Glacius does look great, kinda like a mix between an alien and an icicle and that suits him really well, and you're right about the body types, having a few diverse body types well help separate it from Mortal Kombat as well, since there's only three body types in that, guy, big guy, and girl Yeah I can see the whole rebel soldier thing in there, but I dunno, don't really thing it suits her
Hmm yeah I guess that's a pretty good reason to have to delay it. Ah, well if they didn't change their minds on their original plans for it you wou;dn't have had a choice xD
Indeed, yes. Killer Instinct has always had a very diverse cast when compared to other fighting games, but in the older games there wasn't that much diversity in actual body types. Everyone had a huge buff upper torso and stuff while in this new game they clearly aim to diversify the characters' bodies and postures too, which I think is great. This new KI has definitely some of my favorite designs and feel to any fighting game yet. You know, for some reason I've always seen Mortal Kombat a bit soulless. I know I should like everything violent, dark and bloody, but something about MK has never clicked with me for some reason.
Heh, yup Don't like the idea of Kinect stalking me and putting footage of me online.
Yep it has, a skeleton, a raptor, an ice alien, a werewolf, and so on. Diversity among a cast just makes a game for visually appealing, may have just been a lack of imagination on the developers part that made more a streamlined physique on many characters Well Mortal Kombat may bee violent and bloody but I'd never ever call it dark xD After the first one it start adding lighter elements like Dan Forden's 'Toasty' and the Friendships to the point that they were essentially just self parodies by the PS 2 era games. I personally like Mortal Kombat because of the multi-layered story which I find pretty interesting, but gameplay wise it's nothing special
Been meaning to ask you what you think of that fighter's generation website
I wouldn't either xD So does the Kinect come separate to the actual XBone now or is it still connected to it? (I see what I did there xD)
Yup. I'd definitely like to see more fighting games use non-human characters like monsters, werewolves, robots and such. There doesn't seem to be that many aside from KI and Darkstalkers. Heh, indeed saying MK is "dark" might be too much :'D though it seems they're kinda trying to make it darker, at least from what I've seen of the upcoming MKX. From what I know, there seems to be a lot of story to MK universe, yeah. The gameplay never caught my attention tho. Having a block button in a 2D fighting game feels awkward to me.
You know, it's funny that you ask about fighter's generation, I never expected anyone here to mention that . Fighter's generation used to be my number 1 site for my early fighting game knowledge back when I was getting more and more into the genre. Later on I just stopped going to the site though... The attitude of the webmaster started to annoy me. The guy says Super Smash Bros. isn't a fighting game yet he put Castlevania Judgment on his list which barely qualifies as one and never got any tourney attention unlike Smash Bros. which is still being played in big events like EVO. I just get my FG news elsewhere nowadays. What do you think of the site?
Haha . Actually they recently revealed they're releasing a Kinect-less package of the Xbone costing 100 dollars less or so. There's never been a requirement to have the Kinect connected to the main console though.
You often see undefined noses (in pretty much every second art style I see out there) and they don't look bad so I don't see what's wrong with this one. I wasn't aiming for her face to have too much detail so I left her nose simple too. In the B&W inks that I made I didn't even include a nose bridge for her. Only here in the painting process I decided to add it in as well, but kept her face relatively simple with very few strokes and less detail.
